Welcome to Channeling2012 - the blog about cocktail fashion. There are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of fashion blogs out there, this isn't just another one with selfies of me in my oh so expensive designer get-up. This blog is dedicated to fashion for cocktail events - I've found in recent years that more and more events (weddings, parties etc.) are calling for the dress code of 'cocktail'. To some this isn't very clear, I have seen people turn up in jeans! This blog is dedicated to giving you inspiration on what to wear when the dress code is cocktail, and where to buy your cocktail dress.
To start - here are a few pointers:
1. Cocktail is not formal (so don't wear an long gown)
2. Cocktail is not clubbing (so don't wear a mini dress that shows off everything)
3. Keep the dress a decent length - go for no shorter than mid thigh, no longer than below the knee.
4. Sparkles are ok - tasteful sequin/beaded fabrics are fab for cocktail events, but don't go over the top.
5. A little bit of cleavage is ok for cocktail, but balance it out with a longer hem or sleeves.
6. Check out some great cocktail dresses here and also here for inspiration.
